Outlook Cache Modes

Setting	Description
Download Full Items	Downloads full contents of a message all at once. FAST LAN connection
Download Headers and then Full Items	Downloads Headers and then message bodies. (DEFAULT)
Download Headers	Downloads only Headers. Message bodies downloaded when messages are selected for viewing. Good for poor connections, low throughput
On Slow Connections Download Headers Only	Outlook dynamically decides how to behave when a slow connection is detected. Offline address book is not downloaded.

	Pages/Sec The number of hard page faults per second	20 or greater
	Available Bytes Physical memory remaining to run processes	4MB or less
	Paging File (_Total) \ % Usage Total amount of available paging file in use. High percentage indicates a paging file that is too small or more memory is required	75 or greater
Processor
	% Processor Time Time the processor spends executing nonidle threads. Indication of how busy the processor is	80% or greater 50% in multi-processor
	Processor Queue Length Processors waiting to be serviced by the processor	2 or greater
Disk
	Disk Sec/Transfer How quickly data is moving to and from the disk	Use a baseline value
	Avg Disk Queue Length Number of disk requests queued	2 or greater
	Disk Bytes/Sec Disk throughput
	Disk Transfer/Sec Number of r/w operations per second	50% or greater
Network
	Network Interface\Output Queue Length Length of the Output packet queue	2 or greater
	Network Interface\Packets Outbound Discarded Number of outbound packets discarded
	Network Interface\Bytes/Total Sec Total throughput of network interface. Higher numbers are better. (90Mbs on a 100Mb interface)	Higher the better
	Network Segment\BroadcastFramesReceived/Sec Total broadcast frames being put on the network	Compare to baseline
	Network Segment\%Network Utilization Percentage of available bandwidth used on the local segment	40% or greater/reduced throughput and hi collisions
