Account permissions are:
  1. Schema Administrator
  2. Enterprise Exchange Administrators
  3. Domain Administrator
  4. Local Machine Administrator
Domain Prep Requirement
Root domain
Domains that will contain mail-enabled users or groups
any domain that contains users who will be given permissions to manage an Exchange 2k3 org

Account permissions are:
  1. Domain Administrator
  2. Local Machine Administrator

 

Native Mode

Mixed mode is used when Exchange 5.5 or Exchsrvr 2k servers are present
Native mode is used when all Exchange servers are running Exchsrvr 2k3 but is also possible if Exchsrvr 2k servers are present.
Servers can only be moved from mixed mode to native mode and not vice versa
The mode of the Exchange server organization exists irrespective of the mode or functional level of the Windows domain.

Native Mode Advantages

Default routing protocol is SMTP
Mailboxes can be moved between administrative groups
Single routing groups can be made up of Exchsrvr 2k3 servers from more than one administrative group
Exchsrvr 2k3 servers can be moved from one routing group to another
Query-based distribution groups can be implemented
Routing bridgehead servers use 8-bit MIME rather than 7-bit, reducing bandwidth utilization
